Money Engine: how it works
Distance and idle time, priced in pounds
The Money Engine is what makes LemursEye speak in the owner's language. It needs no fuel sensor: distance is measured from GPS and map-matched to roads, idle is counted only with the engine running, consumption is looked up per make and model from an open dataset (or per category when the model is unknown), and prices are yours, per fuel type, in your currency. Add a tank sensor later and the same engine detects theft and refuels.
The parts
1. Distance
trips.distance_km · map-matched
Sum of real displacement per trip, refined by matching the track to the road network.
2. Idle time
trips.idle_seconds · engine on
Stationary time inside a trip, counted only while the engine runs, an explicit engine-off is never charged.
3. Consumption
catalog make+model → category
Litres per 100 km from an open vehicle dataset by make and model; idle litres per hour derived from engine displacement; a per-category fallback; never an invented number.
4. Prices
platform_settings · per fuel type
Gasoline 80/92/95 and diesel, in your company's currency, set by you from the dashboard or by an external system through the API.
5. Cost
fuelCostEgp · idleCostEgp
distance × L/100 km × price, plus idle hours × L/h × price, per vehicle, per day, on the summary and in the digest.
6. Receipt
monthly statement
Everything LemursEye caught, in pounds: idle, after-hours kilometres, speeding, theft alerts.
